Compass Homes, your Columbus custom home builders, announced our partnership with the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Ohio South/Kentucky Chapter. We are excited to bring you a Parade Home like no other in 2014. We are always thinking of ways to motivate and inspire people, and our new partnership should do just that!
We are excited to profile our next local designer, Tia Kellner. We asked Tia a few questions because we thought you might enjoy getting to know her design style a little better!
CH: How long have you been in the field of design?
TK: 20 years as of January 2014!
CH: What was your very first project?
TK: The M/I Homes Design Center- I had just graduated from Ohio State and was hired at M/I to be a Selections Coordinator. We were in the process of building our new design center, and M/I allowed our manager and the 3 other consultants to have input in the design and construction of the new space.
CH: What inspires you?
TK: History – I love when old ideas are turned around and re-examined to create something new yet still familiar.
CH: What do you believe is good design?
TK: Passion! So often I see the same designs being used over and over and I believe that is because designers get busy and go to their familiar (easy) selections. Instead, they need to treat each client as their first and get excited to create something special.
CH: Where is your favorite place to shop or get ideas?
TK: The Internet, and the Short North.
CH: Why did you decide to participate in the 2014 Parade of Homes?
TK: I have always wanted to participate in a Parade of Homes, and when the opportunity came along to showcase our fabulous ASID members to Columbus, I was thrilled to jump on board.
Stay tuned to Compass Homes, your new home builders Powell, to read about more of our amazing 2014 Parade Home designers as we continue to profile them on our blog and Facebook page.
