Is there a better place to be than Upper Arlington in the spring and summer?
This year Upper Arlington celebrates 100 years, and the city has plenty of fun summertime events planned as part of the Upper Arlington Centennial.
In celebration of the Centennial, this year’s Music in the Parks series features a lineup of artists exclusively from UA. The weekly event features performances from local musicians each Thursday June 7-July 19 at Sunny 95 Park. Series highlights include vintage heartland rockers the Buzzard Kings and retro-pop group Oswald and the Herringbones. The series wraps up July 19 with Jazz in July featuring the Columbus Jazz Orchestra.
For the popular Movie in the Park series, this year’s movie choices represent favorites from throughout the decades. Bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy family-favorite flicks on the city’s 24-foot screen each Friday at Thompson Park. The series kicks off June 8 with 1973’s “Charlotte’s Web” and continues with favorites including “Honey I Shrunk the Kids,” “Angels in the Outfield,” “Monsters Inc.” and “Paddington II.”
Several beloved annual events are right around the corner, as well. Spring Fling returns Saturday, May 19, at Sunny 95 Park. UA Parks & Recreation’s annual event offers plenty of outdoor entertainment, with special guests from the Ohio School of Falconry, an Annual Fishing Derby, and Touch-A-Truck, showcasing various city service and safety vehicles.
Explore the UA Farmers’ Market from 3-6 p.m. each Wednesday at the Senior Center at Northam Park. You’ll find a seasonal selection of fresh produce and other Ohio Proud goods each week.
And take a dip under the night sky on June 15 during Swim Under the Stars at Tremont Pool. The pool will be open until 10 p.m. with free admission after 7.
