Dining + Drinks

Walking through downtown Powell you may smell the sweet aroma of barbeque coming from the food trucks at Nocterra Brewing Co. Enjoy some live music while you sip on a wide variety of craft beers and enjoy the views on their beautiful outdoor patio. 

If you prefer a more upscale dining experience, Local Roots offers seasonal menus with locally sourced foods, live music, and a beautiful outdoor patio. For a slower evening with friends, walk over to the Powell Village Winery to enjoy custom bottles of wine, cheese boards, and other small plates for a perfect night of relaxation. 

If you are in the mood for a swankier experience, try a drink at Prohibition, a gastro lounge that offers a variety of experimental cocktails. Of course, no matter where you start your evening, you will want to end it with a scoop of ice cream at Handel’s, the historical walk-up window that has been serving ice cream to Powell residents since 1945. which has been recognized as the #1 ice cream in the world!  

Shopping

On the West Side of downtown Powell there have been new developments that offer many local shops, businesses, and boutiques. You can shop at Finn & Roe for unique pieces you can be sure nobody else will own. Be sure to check out Cute as Button for adorable handmade children’s clothing and accessories and the new Columbus Running Company location for all the running gear you could possibly want. 

In addition to the abundance of shops in downtown Powell, the district hosts an annual street market during the warmer months where you can shop local artisans, antiques, and goods on Saturdays and Sundays. After your shopping is complete, stop by the Blowdry Cafe for a blowout or Skin & Sugar for a facial treatment. 

Entertainment + Events

The Powell Community Center has ample parking, and playgrounds, and is the home base for Powell’s annual “Powell Fest” which takes place in July each year. Food trucks, street performers, local business tents, and a fireworks display keep community members and visitors alike counting down the day to this festival each year. The community center also hosts safety and fire camps, art camps, and the nearby Powell Village Splash Pad is ranked one of the best in central Ohio.

Just down the road from downtown Powell is the nationally ranked Columbus Zoo and Aquarium which is home to more than 10,000 animals to view, as well as a 22-acre waterpark, Zoombezi Bay, and an 18-hole golf course, Safari Golf Club

If you prefer a quieter day in nature, O’Shaughnessy Reservoir Park offers beautiful views of the dam and a perfect spot for a picnic. Highbanks Metro Park is also located very close by and offers day camps for kids, hiking trails, cross-country skiing, reservable shelters, Nature Centers, and fishing.
