Charities That We Are Thankful For!

This time of year is about giving thanks and at Compass Homes we are very thankful for our clients, the people that work for and with us, and our community. There are many community based central Ohio charities that are doing great things every day, and we say thanks for working so hard!

We would like to highlight a few of our favorite central Ohio charities:

Family Mentor Foundation

Family Mentor Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to providing at-risk children in Worthington and Columbus with food during holiday breaks from school. Many children on free and reduced lunch plans at school don’t have enough food over breaks from school. Buddy Bags are sent home with the children. A Buddy Bag is a returnable backpack filled the child-friendly, nutritious food.

Their website is filled with more information and ways you can help! https://www.familymentorfoundation.org
They also have a Facebook page that updates their needs: https://www.facebook.com/familymentorfoundation/

Cozy Cat Cottage Adoption Center

Cozy Cat Cottage has a simple mission…to provide refuge, aid, and care for all cats and kittens that have been injured, abandoned, lost, or abused. They are committed to caring for these cats and trying to find permanent loving homes for them.

This is a great place for you to go and adopt a kitten or cat this season, or just donate to help them out. Every year, at least once, we find a litter of kittens finding refuge in a framed house that is under construction. We take the kittens (and the mom if we can find her) to Cozy cat so that the kittens can have a chance!

There are many ways that you can help:

  • Become a volunteer
  • Become a sponsor
  • Check out the Wish List on the site to donate products to the Cottage
  • Become a foster parent

Habitat for Humanity Restore

Habitat for Humanity’s Restore is a discount home improvement store open to the public. The money that is made from the store goes to Habitat for Humanity-Mid Ohio. New and reusable materials are donated from people, general contractors, businesses, home remodelers, and other organizations.

They have prevented more than 2,600 tons of durable materials from going into our landfills. We recently donated a large supply of office furniture so that it can be put to good use!
